Shoulder pain

Maybe you know this...

You reach for a cup in the kitchen cupboard – and suddenly a pain shoots through your shoulder.

Putting on a jacket becomes a challenge. Washing your hair feels like a chore. Cleaning windows or working overhead is almost impossible. You might no longer be able to lift your child or grandchild without pain, or you wake up at night because every movement hurts.

Perhaps you've already tried physiotherapy, medication, or various treatments. The symptoms improve in the short term – but they always return.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Symptoms

Shoulder pain can manifest in many different ways. Patients often report:

  • Pain when raising the arm

  • Limited mobility

  • Pain when reaching overhead

  • Night pain

  • Pain when putting on a jacket

  • Discomfort when washing hair

  • Pain when lifting children or shopping bags

  • loss of strength

  • Sharp or pulling pains

  • Radiating pain extending into the upper arm

Possible medical diagnoses

Shoulder pain can be associated with, among other things, the following diagnoses:

  • Frozen Shoulder

  • Shoulder osteoarthritis

  • Inflammation of the tendons or bursae

  • Rotator cuff injuries

  • Impingement syndrome

  • Calcific shoulder

  • Sports injuries

  • Irritation after surgery

Many patients have already undergone X-ray or MRI scans. These provide important information about the structure of the shoulder. However, the findings do not always explain why pain persists or why mobility remains restricted despite therapy.

Therefore, what is crucial is not only the diagnosis, but also the question of why your body continues to maintain the symptoms.

My approach

The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in our body. At the same time, it is closely connected to the nervous system and the movement patterns of the entire body.

In my experience, structural changes alone are often insufficient to fully explain persistent pain.

Therefore, with the 5XPain™ method, I don't just look at the shoulder itself. The focus is on the question of why the body can no longer fully carry out its natural regulatory process.

In many people, the nervous system seems to have adapted to a persistent state of pain over time. The goal of treatment is to change this state and support the body's own regulatory mechanisms.

Many patients report changes during treatment, such as increased mobility, reduced pain, or a significantly easier feeling of movement.

The body doesn't heal because the pain disappears. The pain disappears when the body is able to regulate itself again.

What can change again

When shoulder pain subsides, often much more than just the shoulder changes.

Many patients report that they are experiencing:

  • put on her jacket without pain

  • wash hair without discomfort

  • clean windows

  • Lifting children or grandchildren

  • working overhead

  • sleep on the affected side

  • to do sports

  • move freely again

Because often it's not just the shoulder itself that's the problem – but everything it prevents you from doing in everyday life.
